After departing the small town of Farrow Fields to pursue a career in journalism in New York City, Maddie now has to return to her hometown to report on the disappearance of Lauren Elma. Back in Farrow Fields, Maddie confronts memories from high school, a time when she and her best friend Ciara held power over their peers. Despite Maddie’s personal growth, she remains haunted by her past as a high school bully, particularly in relation to Lauren Elma. What begins as a professional assignment soon becomes an overwhelming ordeal as Ciara emerges as a suspect, forcing Maddie to revisit her teenage years once more.
